Setting up the in-game overlay

Widgets, placement and what the overlay never does.

Overwatch 1 min read Updated October 3, 2026

What it shows

Counters for the enemy heroes you enter, your team's composition, map tips and, if you choose them, your hero card, a matchup and your performance. Premium adds personal best picks and up to five saved layouts.

Presets (minimal, counters, competitive, tank, damage, support) switch widgets in one click; opacity, size, screen corner and monitor are yours to set.

Safe by design

The overlay is a separate window on top of the game. NexusWatch detects that Overwatch is running by the name of its process only: it never reads or writes game memory, never injects code and never automates input.

That is why enemy heroes are entered by you: NexusWatch does not read the game to find them. Riot games have no overlay at all — Riot does not allow real-time advantage overlays.
