Where the numbers come from
Overwatch meta figures come from the OverFast API, which reads the hero statistics Blizzard publishes on its official site. Each table shows its source, when it was fetched and, when known, the patch.
Filters
Platform (PC or console), game mode (competitive or quick play), region, role, competitive division and map change the sample. Compare like with like: a hero can be strong in Grandmaster and average in Gold.
The tier list
Tiers rank the heroes of each role from win rate and pick rate for the selected filters, with a documented, versioned model; the method is shown under the list. A tier summarises the current data — it says nothing about how fun or how hard a hero is.
After a patch, read the patch notes next to the meta: early numbers move quickly while the new sample builds up.
